About the Event
Modular on the Spot began as an impromptu live modular synthesizer performance gathering organized by Bana Haffar and Eric (Rodent 516) Cheslak in Los Angeles, California. The idea is to bring people together to experience live modular in the context of the outdoors, away from clubs and studios. These events are entirely focused on modular synthesizers - no external gear such as laptops or drum machines are allowed. Modular synthesizers let the artist mix and match modules to create their own custom instrument. Hands on control and the ability to re-route signal with patch cables creates a personal and often experimental sound.
MOTS has since been replicated in numerous other cities, including San Francisco, Atlanta, Asheville, Seattle, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Milwaukee. These events are FREE, open to all ages, and everyone is welcome.
